2009 was an impressive year for Toronto-based artist Adam David Brown, with an extremely well-received exhibition at his gallery, MKG127, and  rather heated bidding for his work at charity auctions. There seems to be something about his spare yet elegant work (references seem to include artists like Sol LeWitt and Lucio Fontana), which is resonating with art viewers and collectors. Hunter and Cook, a quarterly Canadian visual arts magazine entering its second year of production, has commissioned Brown to create 50 special ‘cut copies’ of their fifth issue.
